New Michael Franti &
Spearhead album pushed back to September
After thirteen years, Michael Franti and his band Spearhead are back. Their
return was prompted by the group's first US top 20 single in his career with the
track "Say Hey (I Love You)." The song's success prompted music business
interest last year, which led to the release of 2008 album "All Rebel Rockers"
after "Say Hey" began to gain radio airplay. Sly & Robbie co-produced "All Rebel
Rockers." Franti & Spearhead's new single "The Sound Of Sunshine" is now doing
well too. The album's release date, which is alse titled "The Sound Of Sunshine,"
has been pushed back a bit to September 21.

songs that will feature on the record. The album is due in November and is based
on the musical of the same name which opened in Las Vegas earlier this year.

The Cars may reunite
Surviving members of the band The Cars have hinted at a reformation. A recent
photo has surfaced online that shows surviving members jamming in a studio. The
photo shows Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson. In 2005,
Elliot Easton and Greg Hawkes formed The New Cars with Todd Rundgren, Prairie
Prince and Kasim Sulton that played a mix of Cars and Rundgren tracks. This
would be the first time the band has properly reunited since their disbanding in
1988. In the ‘80s The band had hits like “Drive” and “You Might Think.” |
